Ever see a rookie cabinet company assemble flat
packs of bases prior to hanging doors
and installing hardware. ? Do you
chuckle watching them try to join
square panels without a corner clamp
,watching pieces topple over on each
other as they haplessly try to hold
everything together without any clamps ?
For over 40 years, cabinet companies
have been assembling base boxes the
same way over and over and over again
thinking that adding a CNC is the solution
to speed in cutting parts. Yes, a CNC is
fast, but what about assembly on site...you
haven't addressed that, its like making
a sandwich but forgetting the meat inside
the bread or bun. CNC's are great at automating
one thing only and that is tracing parts outlines,
it does not pick up a drill or clamp or hand
assemble anything at all. Cut parts are
great, but just like Chrysler or Chevy, the
car still has to be assembled by a human being.
A real cabinetmaker or wood carpenter
always must innovate to learn best methods
for assembly, doesn't matter if its a cabinet
box, door or simple wall frame.
So that being said,
What if you could cut the installation time on
new bases and cabinetry by 75% and
reduce cost by over 50%.? What if it
were stronger and less prone to racking ?
What if it were cheaper ? What if its
tolerances and accuracy for square
was down to the thousandth ? And...
what if it was at least 20-30% faster than
traditional case clamping on site or in-shop ?
It's less expensive than traditional joinery,
It's far stronger,
It's less prone to racking and damage being shipped,
It's more accurate than bases and cross joins cut
on a CNC router prone to autospindle downshear
force chipping...
And it's faster....we guarantee we can assemble or
you can assemble our pre-engineered bases in
minutes, rather than hours.
We have done it.!!!..our new Channel Link
Technology is similar to Trex decking in that
all joinery can be now assembled without
damaging the wood surface panels and bases.
no more dowel headed screws, no more
pan head screws that split bases or those
crazy dowel plug insert bore hole screws.
The Channel Link joinery is also capable
of accepting the heavier 1- 1/2" granite top
weight that is becoming the norm standard for
countertops. Slap the heaviest top on you
can, it'll accept the weight easily !
Channel Linked Technology by ColorScapes
Cabinetry may be the lower cost, faster answer to
that kitchen of your's that needs all new
bases, drawers, and doors.
No more waiting for Direct Buy, Kraftmaid, or Schuler
to respond to your order (11-16 weeks is common !)
I used to work with a fearless business executive who's
motto was " INNOVATE or DIE", which essentially
means if you are not improving your process continually
you will go the way of the dinosaurs. I read alot
of Jack Welch and Harvey McKay books on business
and providing service to grow a business and that
message is always loud and clear.

Suspended Joined Keurig Cabinet with Crown Topper
Small upgrade project for
a coffee aficionado client.
Suspended cabinet joined
to above to save counter space
for Keurig.Throw in a simple crown
topper to jazz it up !
We use through bolts to hang
the cabinet instead of trying
to screw it in upwards from
underneath. This way you
don't damage the cabinet shelves
and it has greater hold strength.
We also keep the back 50% open
for cording and connection to
water supplies etc. No point drilling
after the fact and damaging a joined
cabinet box. We also fit up
a custom Keurig pod rack for a small
extra.
For you Keurig crazy folks
you can now get 80 packs of Keurig
blends in Dark and Medium Roasts
at Big Lots in Buffalo/Transit Rd
locations for under $12.00 USD.
Alot of our clients shop in Buffalo

Dry fitting Microwave Cabinet in Real Red Oak
Matched profile and 1/2" rise cathedral arch
with trammel point guide before cutting stile
on band saw and shaping with our Powermatic
Shaper.
By the time the CNC programmer has sourced
an e-cabinet offset file to replicate, we've already
started shaping this door with 80.00 worth of
3/4 solid red oak.
Dry fitting red oak custom microwave cabinet for a client
needing upper cabinet modified to allow for
range sightline. We check our dry fit before
glueing up raised panels, because once ceramic
glue sets it never fails like carpenter glue sometimes
does.
The best thing ? We had this cabinet and door set
shaped in under 1 hour on a Powermatic Shaper and the box
assembled in 15 minutes. The closest competitor
said it would be 7 weeks !!! Raised panel is the
most difficult cabinet face to make by far, straight
insert panels are a joke compared to setting router
spindle heights to within a thousandth with a micrometer
gauge. WE DONT NEED A 100K CNC router to knock
out two red oak doors and the waste of a 4 x 8 solid
oak panel would be crazy expensive. We also
take the time to MATCH GRAIN before cutting
a panel on a bandsaw, something that is overlooked
by the mass production bigbox suppliers.
And, we also take the time to put a proper door lip profile
on the red oak doors, something you don't see with
the off the shelf crap doors at Depot. Open a box
and take a look inside and see what you get is our
suggestion. You get an oak "ply " door with a 2/16"
veneer facing, not solid oak.
You could give Kitchencraft,Kraftmaid or Masterbrand cabinets
$850.00 plus tax and customs fees and wait 7 weeks for two red oak
custom sized doors or you could give us your order for less than half that
at $415.00 (including box) and we'll have it installed in 1 week !
You become a good woodworker through repetition on
real job sites and this is our 1952nd woodworking project
since 1987.!!! Most of the fences and decks you see in
Glen Abbey Oakville were built by my brother and I during our
time as college kids working our way through university.
The tools sucked back then, tools nowadays are amazing.
There were no Paslode or Remington drivers,no mitre saws, let alone
compressor nailers then, it was all done with square, circular
saw and hammer and nail. You pay the price in the hot sun
and you learn to get them done accurate and fast or you
sweat to death in the Sahara that is Glen Abbey. Ever visited Glen Abbey or
River Oaks survey's , there still isnt a shade tree to
be found on Monk's Passage, Windrush or Old Abbey Lane. !!!
This is a big reason why people move to Burlington and Hamilton - trees !!!
Contractor Tip:
Notice the simple paper template for hanging holes
for the microwave, you don't need that ridiculous
template they sell at IKEA, just line up your paper
to the back wall and arrange piece and tape them in
place prior to drill up. Saves us alot of time on figuring
out where to drill holes
SW7014 Eider White in Erindale...
Great kitchen in a newly purchased home
that was showing its age with an older
pecan stain prior.
Great thanks to the Cordeiro's for the project !
Pardon the Penguins protective counter blanket,
they didn't have any Leaf ones left...!
The glass lite cabinet doors really jazz up
a kitchen's look, inquire with us as we
are happy to custom cut and custom glass
doors for as little as 50.00 each !
We had these doors completely level
and re-installed in 30 minutes because
we never move the mounting plate inside
the cabinet on uninstall.
Countertops dropped in by client
followed by a tile backsplash to update.
Contractor Tip:
3M Edgelock Tape is far superior to Frogtape
at preventing undertape bleed from lacquer
spray finishing.
Do not overspray or caulk shut a raised panel
door, it looks awful if it moves over the dry
winter in the first year of refinishing. Panels
need to expand and contract as moisture
and humidity changes in your home.
Always finish baseboard or toe kick last
so you are not painting it twice or three
times from working on-site.

The Jays's bats have come alive, and in the last 10 games are the hottest team in baseball....people doubted them early but now the climb up the A.L East has begun...double digit,multi-homerun games are becoming a blast to witness.

Ever buy a new fridge and find it's too tall for the cabinet above it ?
The newest 37" deep Fridges from Samsung and Kitchen Aid,
Fisher-Paykel, Sub-Zero etc are often way taller than
fridges built prior to 2008-9. Especially if you consider
the new mid-zone climate drawer (third drawer) fridges.
The cabinet box is brought out to 25" or 27" deep flush
to fridge line, so you aren't having to use a stepstool
just to access the cabinet. You also have to account
for a 5/8" tall fridge cap hinge so that doors can
swing unimpeded on a 270 degree hinge.
We built a new 15" tall by 25" depth box
complete with ceramically glued and brad
nailed angle-clamped box, conceal joined
to right hand side cabinet and affixed to
stud in wall with an old-school rawly screw
plug. Throw in a fast edgebanding with
our Polymac-Akron Edgebander and you
woulda thought that cabinet was always
there from the original install...
The great thing ? We were 1/4 the cost
of a big-box stores' custom cabinet
jobber. !!!

Client Bookings Available for August,Sept,Oct 2016..some sage advice...
We are currently booking projects August 15th forward
with the exception of small one's and two's of custom
fridge and pantry cabinets and small built-ins and islands.
Any large custom manufactured cabinet projects we
generally refer to Silhouette Custom (Hamilton) or
Sherwood Cabinetry in Mississauga. Both have
CNC Thermwood CS-43 capabilities and can
turn projects much faster than Kraft(Krap Maid)
or any big box solution. I'm puzzled when I hear
of people waiting 16 weeks for Kraft Maid or Schuler
cabinets at Depot or Slowe's. Stay local, you'll be
blown away by the timeliness of service and quality.
How the heck can anyone stage and sell a home to
maximum market value when forced to wait 16 weeks
for cabinets to be made at a huge impersonal factory
in Winnipeg ? Ridiculous and unacceptable in our
opinion, but Masterbrand has been pulling this crap
with people in Home Depot and Lowe's for years.
A word of sage advice, once you pre-pay your
cabinet order there, they couldn't give a rats
butt if you need to meet a renovation deadline.
Seen it happen to very nice people and clients
and it has to stop at some point you would think ?
If you also think these Big Box stores really care
about your kitchen order, you're sadly mistaken
as they are "trying to achieve highest margin,
staggered and delayed install times", as their
fall down point is recommending an installer
which usually comes in the form of a workday
temp or in one client's case we know of, a high-school
kid with experience cutting lawns and building
picnic benches for Lowe's. Are you kidding me ?
Masterbrand and Elkay have bastardized the cabinetry
market at these big box stores in their continual
attempts at economies of scale in production.
No one cares if you have 5-10 lines of production
producing 1,000 cabinet doors a day if you
can't even get 20 doors right for a small galley
kitchen for a retiree on a fixed pension. We have
seen the shipments originating from these
"production " cabinet companies and I can
tell you from personal experience it's not
a good way to go when renovating a kitchen.
