Current Project: Strip and Refinish 80's Pickled Oak

We are currently assisting a client with removal
of pickled oak finish from the late 1980's and
refinishing with our KCMA approved lacquer
from Sherwin-Williams. Kitchen is large
at 45+ doors and drawers. It is rare to see
this kind of quality White Oak species in
raised panel and we are fortunate to be
given this project. It takes one or two
of us approximately 45 min to 1 hour
of labour per door after orbital profiling,
Irwin rake chisel tooling of profiles and
final vacuum sanding with 11hp extraction.
We then do a final alcohol cleaning with
Methyl Hydrate to ensure that no residues
interfere with priming and finishing.

For those of you die hard clear coat finish fans
this finish is beginning to tack and fail and is not
as bombproof as you think, its at the point where
all the kitchen residues are beginning to stick to
doors and frames because it has finally decayed
from UV exposure.

Fieldstone Face Frame Refaced Kitchen/ Bench Storage Cabinetry

Two unique projects we completed in June...

Face framing (old school technique) with
inset Shaker 2.25 stile maple cabinetry...
the complexity is far greater than simple
frameless Euro cabinetry, and its a lot
more fun and visually interesting to look at !
We don't find frameless cabinetry that hard
to build, just really boring..snoooooze........
let the builders install that junk if they want.
I prefer the challenge of using my Microgauge
and building a .0001 tolerance face frame with
Kreg Pocket Screw joinery and wood glue
in an old school technique that actually requires
some woodworking skills, anyone can dial in
an e-cabinet file and watch a CNC pre cut
bored holes on a Thermwood CS-43.

I always thought if you are turning a kitchen
in 1 week with MDF doors and frameless
boxes it's not going to last very long or
fetch much in value. Ever see a Barzotti
Kitchen ? Great quality and refinish friendly
20 years down the road if you get tired of
the look.

1558 Fieldstone Finish shot in MLC Polystar WB lacquer.
Doors 2.15 stile Simple Shaker square profile with
standard Hardiboard panel inserts from Columbia.

Here's one we wrapped early this week,
cabinetry for a mudroom and laundry room.

Custom Recessed Built- Ins

Custom Built-In Bookshelves/Media Mantle Project

Client gave us a blank canvas in terms of wall
depth and width, this is what we can do with
decent turnaround times. All recessed built in
shelving built and spray finished on site after
transporting and fitting base cabinetry built ins.


$900.00 per side, doors are solid MDF finished
in Target EM6500 production lacquer. Solid one
piece doors cut on a Biesse 24C Rover with
Colonial Ogee Autospindle Bit Diamond Series PCD40
(client paid for custom bit from Royce Tool 565.00)

Profiles are an exact match to kitchen cabinetry !
Yes, our rover is back working again after a 62 day
alignment problem with gantry.
