I get asked often what is better for cabinet refinishing,
waterborne lacquer or hybrid coatings like ProClassic.
Waterborne lacquers are hands down far superior for
the following reasons:
1. Mar and Stain Resistance
2. Edge Soak Comparison
3. Adhesion
4. Color Stability over Time
5. Speed of Recoat/Touch Up
All 5 categories are used to measure a coatings
effectiveness on a given cabinet door substrate,
whether it is oak, maple, pine or hardboard/osb melamine.
Waterborne lacquers outperform hybrid coatings
in every category and do not yellow over time like
hybrid coatings do (ProClassic/Advance etc.)
