In Progress....39 Cabinet Kitchen !

Client has chosen OC-17 White Dove,
a nice off-white in our KCMA approved
lacquer finish. Big kitchen, lots of doors
had to be hand sanded and profiled
prior to priming and spray finishing.

Again, we take all doors down off-site
so the homeowner's kitchen does not
become a woodshop ! It's the right
way instead of some turkeys who
try to finish doors on-site and just
end up with a big mess.

The great thing about using lacquer is its
adhesion value on lightly sanded melamine
on the inside of cabinets, something a paint does
not adhere well to.

Acroma Pro lacquers are hands down, refinisher
friendly and there is only a mild fresh aroma.
Dry time is also fantastic as we can also touch
up doors on the "fly". The homeowners love
the easy touch up...gone are the days of
thermofoil or solvented lacquers.

And here it is complete with new 4" and 5"
bar handle Richelieu Hardware...great thanks
to Richelieu for the new drill guide templates,
we cut our time on hardware install down to
less than 4 minutes a door !

Previous Maple Kitchen had faded and bleached
out from 12 yrs of sun exposure and UV.

Great thanks to Sonia and John for the project !

Rochester Blue....in Rochester

Colour: Rochester Custom Blue
Hardware: Amerock Oil Rubbed Bronze
Tile: Lavastone Mosaic

Effective combinations of colour can produce
staggering room effects....clients went for
a brown/blue modern approach...
there is no hint of French Provincial anywhere here..
just a lot of warm and bold country colours...

Here's what we did:

  • Built and spray finished 32 Shaker Maple Cabinets
  • Built Custom Arched Exhaust Hood in Shaker Design
  • Custom Sketch and Build of 3 seat Island with Bottle Racking
  • Sourced a local counter top installer
  • Built 2 Decorative Walls with Sconce Shaped Headers
  • Refinished Legacy Shaker Table Top with Akvaline Clear 240
  • Turned job around in under 28 days (vs Kraft Maid's 11 weeks).
  • Check out the "tree branch" chandelier...a neat find !

Here is what the kitchen looked like
before I arrived...the old fashioned bottom
pull handle melamine/oak handled cabinetry
from circa 1978.....the only thing we were
able to save was the flooring...lol !

Great thanks to Kerry and Phil for the project !

Mirror Mirror on the Wall...

An interesting mirror project to do...matches the rest
of the bathroom trim !

Doors with Glass Mirrors were uninstalled, shop
sprayed and re-installed with clean hingework.

Colour: OC-65 Chantilly Lace
Finish: AcromaPro S/G Lacquer

Great thanks to Heather B. for the project !

Deglossing Clear finished Maple Cabinetry

Current project: Maple Cabinetry by Paul's Cabinetry
Finish chosen: AcromaPro S/G Lacquer
Color  chosen  : OC-17 White Dove (Moore's)

The critical sanding prep we do guarantees
excellent long term adhesion, notice the lack
of sheen on the left cabinet door once it
receives proper deglossing and sanding.
We chuckle when we hear of "painters"
Spraying cabinets unsanded  while
still attached to the hardware....have fun
on those callback trips...! Some cabinet
doors we have completed require close
to 1 hour prep sanding, filling, and contour
Sanding of delicate profiles. THIS IS THE
RIGHT WAY TO FINISH WOOD....Any one telling
you that they can finish your doors on site in 1 day
is a joke show and should be avoided. There are
too many jokers who think nothing of turbine
spraying all over your hardware and leaving
your kitchen a mess....

We hand sand all delicate finely crafted
Maple Cabinetry prior to spray finish, followed by
power vacuuming and cleaning with methyl
hydrate. Our shop process and finish
is time tested and proven, it is a KCMA
approved process and has allowed us
to successfully complete close to 285
kitchens in both Canada and the U.S. with
great resale effect and that "wow" factor !!!

Curing in the rack prior to re-install....

Kitchen #147 Cloud White...Classic Looks...

Classic Cabinetry by Barzotti re-finished
in AcromaPro lacquer, a fine
professional non-yellowing lacquer...

Client called us for obvious reasons..an old
1980's looking Walnut/Clear Finished Kitchen
that needed an update... !

An ideal project for us to demonstrate
the effectivness of lacquer spray finishing aged
nitrocellulose clear coated cabinetry.

Remember, hybrid paints like Cabinet Coat and
Proclassic, contain alkyd resins which yellow over
a short period of time...Lacquer, on the other hand,
will never yellow and is the EASIEST to touch up
as successive touch-ups melt right into the existing
finish...

Great thanks to Matt and Kristin for the project !
