Humidity and Spray Finishing...what to do to optimize your pattern ?

This week north of the border we are hitting humidex values in
the high 90's and 100's which can affect the quality of flow
viscosity and spray pattern with all kinds of lacquers and finishes.

The key to achieving good spray patterns during these conditions
is to thin your product adequately to hit the proper centipoise
values for 25-27 sec viscosity in # 4 Ford Cup...we use a
little warm distilled water in our gun setups and find a 5-7%
thin ratio will enable the lacquer to drop properly into
the venturi chamber and lead to better spray patterns.

Of course, if your gun is clogged you're in trouble no
matter what, so make sure your gun is flawlessly clean
and needle sets are free from cured product.

Sometimes, like Occam's Razor, the simplest explanation
is the correct one !
