Edge Soak on Cabinet Lacquers vs Paint

One thing we like to educate our clients about is
"edge-soak" testing of cabinetry lacquers
that are KCMA approved. Regular acrylic
house paints and finishes will not stand up
to an edge soak testing in a mild diluted
solution - hot water/soap or mild cleanser.

We are aware that a paint company in Burlington
is finishing kitchen cabinets with regular house
finishes (wall finishes) and wish to educate
them that this is less than ideal for their client
base. No doubt, lots of callbacks for chip-off
and corner peeling etc. The best cabinet
finishing products contain Roshield or Rhoplex resins
and are best suited to millwork finishing.

We routinely check our millwork coatings
suppliers edge-soak ratings in light of the
newer VOC restrictions to make sure
we provide an excellent solution to
revitalize aged cabinetry.

Feel free to review edge soak ratings
on the Web.
